Fron Goch, Caernarfon

Fron Goch is a garden centre in the heart of Caernarfon, North Wales. It has always been a family run business and has recently undergone an extension of the kitchen and restaurant area to provide more of a shopping experience for its customers.

Radford Chancellor Ltd has been working with Fron Goch for the last six months, to provide on-going support to develop the catering side of their business.

By providing our services, we have been able to install measures to raise the food standards and provide a more extensive menu for their customers. We have produced a kitchen manual, consisting of working practices, food costings, recipes, methods and prep production lists. These have aided the kitchen team in producing consistent results and lesser experienced members have developed their skills and structure of working. Overall, this has provided a more time efficient way of working. On-going training with the cooks is helping their individual confidence grow. Information and training on equipment is helping them produce larger volumes, constant results and a better yield from their produce. Menus have incorporated local produce, items that are in season and the needs of their customer base. Over the summer, the salad area has been adapted to cater for a broader range of tastes and the twice weekly carvary is growing increasingly popular and service waiting times shorter. Fron Goch is putting the glam into the garden centre experience, with its own traditional cake stand afternoon teas with home-made cakes, biscuits and sandwiches.
